Sweet Cocoa Love

I woke up feeling frisky this morning.

Frisky…and a bit naughty. 😉

So I ate chocolate peanut butter cups for breakfast. 😀

But we’re not talking Reece’s. Oh noooooo. These are far more silky, smooth…and cold than the orange and brown wrapper variety.

And they’re packed with protein, which makes them a perfect pre or post-workout treat!

I made a few modifications to a recipe I found in this month’s issue of Oxygen Magazine, adding extra chocolate for good measure.

Tera’s Whey Organic Dark Chocolate Protein Powder plus a touch of cocoa made the frozen peanut butter cups rich and satisfying.

**Frozen Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Cups**

1 scoop whey chocolate protein powder (I highly recommend using Tera’s, but if you want to make this vegan, feel free to use soy, rice etc)

1 T. peanut butter or almond butter (I use creamy)

1 T. cocoa powder

1/2 cup water

1-2 stevia packets

1. Mix all ingredients in a blender and pour into mini muffin tins. Freeze for an hour, or until firm.

A peanut-coconut crepe was the perfect accompaniment to my sweet morning treat.

And let’s not forget the hot chocolate.

I told you I was feeling naughty. 😉

Even though I’m typically a savory breakfast girl, occasionally I need some cocoa to kickstart my day. It’s sweet nourishment for both body and soul.

When I’m looking to satisfy my chocolate craving in a bit more unconventional way, I go this route:

The Republic of Tea recently debuted Red Velvet Chocolate and Strawberry Chocolate Tea!  I snagged mine at World Market, but they’re also available on Amazon.

And if tea doesn’t cut it, this usually does the trick:

Hello, cupcake! My new favorite wine.

But preferably not in the morning.

Even if I’m feeling frisky. 😉

Time to hit the weight room and do go snack shopping for a trip to Philly this weekend (Healthy Living Summit here I come!). Check out what I have tucked away in my gym bag:

Because dark chocolate not only nourishes the soul, but also helps the body recover from exercise. :)

*Have a beautiful day!*

Are you a sweet or savory breakfast person?

What’s your favorite way to incorporate chocolate into your breakfast (or any meal)?
